After losing a great amount of weight, Julia had already taken up cycling and weight lifting and shortly after became interested in Pilates. So, when she moved to Tucson in 1998, she worked on becoming certified in Pilates.
She opened her own studio in 2002. Then, in 2008 Julia decided the space she had wasn’t enough, so she upgraded the studio to 1650 sq. ft. and became licensed by the State of Arizona as a School of Secondary Education in Pilates. This license was maintained until 2011 (allowing her to educate a number of teachers to achieve PMA, Pilates Method Alliance, certification).
The Tucson Pilates Connection continued to grow as a studio and Julia hasn’t stopped since.

Charlotte began her Pilates instructor training in 2009 with Julia at Tucson Pilates Connection and attained PMA Certification shortly after. Charlotte has also trained with Ruth Alpert, Michele Larson, Madeleine Black and Mary Bowen, done Polestar Pilates Training, is Certified in Functional Movement Systems, and Studied Anatomy Trains. She trains with Sam Prouty for both Pilates and Gyrotonics.
Combining her Pilates training with her medical background has enabled her to evaluate and treat musculoskeletal complaints with a new approach. Often musculoskeletal complaints can be resolved with appropriate exercises and stretching thereby decreasing or eliminating the need for expensive treatments and medications; patients and clients are delighted with that! It is exciting to see people attain better strength, balance, energy and quality of life through improved movement patterns.
Charlotte’s latest interest is in Somatic Experiencing, a means of treating emotional and physical trauma without reliving the trauma. She is going through training to be certified as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.

Michele helps women & men of all ages move with greater ease in their daily and athletic activities. Her gentle yet energetic teaching style is effective and motivating.
Since 1984 Michele has been a fitness teacher — from aerobics to yoga/yoga therapy and yogarobics. These nicely counterbalanced her other careers in education and management. She discovered the all-encompassing benefits of Pilates after a hip injury, studied with Julia Kreis in 2009 and completed her Pilates Method Alliance Certification (industry gold standard) the next year.
Somatic awareness is woven throughout her Pilates teaching and practice, helping you use breath and movement to feel your body from within, allowing release of lingering effects of physical and emotional trauma. Old holding patterns dissolve so you can move with greater ease in all the activities you enjoy.
Michele is also certified in many other related modalities and Pilates styles with a deep understanding of anatomy and how to improve core strength, balance and flexibility.
A note from Michele:
Come as you are to experience Pilates as a mat class, on the equipment or using the OovTM. Relieve stress, release tension and tightness. Become a stronger, longer you.
We are not a gym.
No contracts. Small classes in a clean, supportive studio environment.
New to Pilates? I will make it understandable and doable by breaking it down into incremental movements so you are comfortable and successful, one exercise at a time.
